PORTAGE (WKZO-AM/FM) — There’s still some time for artists to sign up for a trashy exhibition at Celery Flats in Portage.
They’ll be vying for a $1,000 top prize at the city’s annual Recycled Art in the Park event, which is set for May 6.
Entrants will be required to convert discarded or used items into art.
“We’ve seen some very sophisticated entries before that involve welding things together, but they don’t have to be,” Portage Park Board member Tim Earl said. “There have been some very simple ones, some elementary school entries that have won prizes in the past.”
Organizers are hoping for 30 entries by the April 14 deadline.
The pieces will remain on display through May 13. More information about the event can be found here.
