KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Students in some Kalamazoo Public Schools buildings will get a face-to-face meeting with the superintendent this week to receive a firsthand presentation on what is expected of them this coming year.
Dr. Darrin Slade says each student has now been issued a student handbook modified for their school and he wants no misunderstandings.
He also plans to hold separate sessions with parents, to also make it clear what is expected of them if their children are to be successful.
He also wants parents to mind their Ps and Qs when on school grounds, attending athletic events and at bus stops.
The first session for parents will be on the 17th at Hillside Middle School.
Slade is also encouraging parents to sign up to the Parental Portal on the KPS website so they can keep track of their children’s grades, attendance records and assignments.
