KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP (WKZO AM/FM) — Some confusion about downed lines on West Main kept the road closed for hours Thursday evening, beginning right before the afternoon drive.
Township Police report that a car pulling out of Tiffany’s parking lot failed to make the curve into east bound traffic, shot across the street and clipped off the pole at about 4:30 just half a block to the west of the crest of West Main Hill.
It dropped lines across all four traffic lanes, forcing police to divert traffic down side streets to get around the scene.
Initial reports that they were downed powerlines proved to be inaccurate and it took some time for the telecommunications companies belonging to the lines that were on the pole to respond.
It’s not known if the driver was cited.
