SHERIDAN TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A dispute over some property has landed a Calhoun County man in jail on attempted murder charges.
Around 7:45 p.m. Monday deputies from the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office were called to the 14000 block of 26 ½ Mile road for a man with a gun complaint. After investigating, it was determined that a 42-year-old Sheridan Township man had gotten into an argument with his sister and brother in-law over some property and brandished a firearm.
The couple was able to retreat to their vehicle, and as they were attempting to leave, the subject fired his weapon, striking their vehicle. No one was injured during the assault.
As deputies were still in the area looking for the suspect, he was seen driving towards the incident location. He was stopped and taken into custody without incident. He was lodged at the Calhoun County Jail on two counts of assault with intent to murder.
Deputies were assisted by the Michigan State Police during the investigation.
