MARSHALL TOWNSHIP, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – The Michigan State Police are investigating the spray painting of a derogatory message about the BlueOval Battery Park on the side of heavy equipment in the 14000 block of Verona Road.
The controversial battery park is under construction with a scheduled opening in 2026. It will produce lithium iron phosphate batteries for Ford’s electric vehicles.
The facility has raised strong emotions since it was announced over two years ago both in favor and in opposition.
Troopers from the Marshall Post say the incident under investigation took place between the late hours of Friday evening and Sunday morning.
According to the State Police, the company that was victimized is not associated with Ford in any way. They add there have been several complaints in recent months where construction companies in the area have been vandalized in some way, similar to what happened on Verona Road.
Troopers are asking anyone with information on this incident or any similar incident to call the Marshall Post at (269) 558-0500 in reference to case #54-4041-24.
