PENNFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a suspect after a 18-year-old girl claims she was assaulted Sunday morning.
Deputies were conducting a routine foot patrol in the area of North Helmer Road and Lafayette Avenue at about 6:30 a.m. when they were approached by the teenager who reported being assaulted by a 28-year-old male relative in the 100 block of Milton Avenue in Pennfield Township.
The suspect was still believed to be on scene in possession of a firearm and had other family members inside the home with him.
A perimeter was set around the house. The Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team, hostage negotiators, K9 units and the Detective Bureau were notified and responded to assist.
Everyone in the house were brought to a safe location. The suspect was still believed to be inside but he was not located during a search of the residence.
While no arrest have been made yet, the Sheriff’s Department says a person of interest has been identified.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office is investigating this incident and is seeking assistance from the public.
