KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — A Cooper Township man has been formally charged with beating his elderly parents.
Investigators say he struck his 84-year-old mother in the head with enough force to send her to the hospital where she eventually died from the injuries.
48-year-old Wesley Bodine was formally charged yesterday for open murder and assault.
Barbara Bodine was at Borgess Medical Center for 7 weeks before she died last spring.
His lawyer argued that Bodine should be charged with manslaughter rather than murder because he didn’t intend to kill his mother.
The Judge was not persuaded and ordered that he be held on $100,000 bond.
