BELAS LAKE (WKZO-AM/FM) — Three fishermen took a chilly dip in Belas Lake in Cass County when their small fishing boat was swamped by wind and waves.
It happened at around 4:40 p.m. Saturday. 40-year-old Brent Baldwin and 25-year-old Kevin Tweedy, both of Niles, abandoned the boat when it appeared it might capsize. They swam to shore and called for help.
Responding deputies used another boat to rescue 43-year-old Leonard Baldwin of Dowagiac, who stayed onboard.
The fishermen had floatation devices on the boat.
