CASS COUNTY (WKZO AM/FM) — A 17-year-old who claims he was just defending his aunt when she shot his uncle has been charged with six felonies, including attempted murder and ordered held on $200,000 bond.
Bail was set high for Dakota Stanley because he has previous arrests for assault and drugs as a juvenile.
Prosecutors contend that the victim, 33-year-old Thomas Lewallen had been arguing with wife Carolyn early Easter morning, but was not armed and posed no threat.
The bullet grazed Lewallen’s cheek and lodged in his neck.
He is expected to survive after undergoing emergency surgery at South Bend Memorial.
