OSHTEMO (WKZO AM/FM) — There has been a lot of gloom and doom about brick and mortar stores closing due to changing shopping habits, but a group of developers have started clearing land for a new commercial development near Kalamazoo.
It’s called Westgate that will be located near the intersection of West Main and U.S. 131 north of TGI Fridays on land that is currently vacant.
The $100-million dollar development could reportedly include space for five large retailers, three hotels and space for professional or medical offices.
Pushing the project is Joseph Gesmundo of AVB Inc., the same developer who worked with Oshtemo Township to create the commercial cluster that now includes Costco and Field and Stream.
