KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM/FM) — Kalamazoo Public Safety Chief Jeff Hadley promised he would attempt to derail the X-Train.
This weekend, his agency put together a successful multi-agency effort.
The rolling party has been a nuisance on Kalamazoo’s north side for years. The parade of cars race through neighborhoods, making noise, causing property damage and threatening safety.
Michigan State Police and Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s deputies joined public safety officers making traffic stops. 20 people were jailed for fleeing, resisting, drunk driving, drugged driving and cocaine and heroin possession.
Ten vehicles were also impounded. Officers also arrested seven others on outstanding warrants.
