HOLT, MI — Ingham County Sheriff’s Deputies say they helped end a high speed chase that began in Bath Township early Wednesday morning. According to a statement, a Dodge Challenger was being pursued by police on southbound US-127 when the vehicle exited the freeway at Cedar Street and proceeded into the city of Mason around 3:00 a.m. Bath Township Police ended its pursuit after losing sight of the vehicle near Jolly Road.
Ingham County Sheriff’s Deputies picked up the pursuit in the city after the vehicle was observed at a gas station. The vehicle was chased by police at high rates of speed into Delhi Township when the driver of the suspect vehicle failed to negotiate the roundabout at Cedar Street /Holbrook Drive and crashed.
Police say they detained the driver, a 17-year-old female from Tuscola County, and her passenger, a 17-year-old male from Jackson County. Both were transported to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries, according to a press release.
The driver was eventually lodged at the Ingham County Youth Center. The Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office will be reviewing the report for possible charges of felony fleeing/eluding police and carrying concealed weapon (CCW) charges. Additionally, she was cited for being a minor in possession (MIP) of both marijuana and alcohol. The passenger was cited for MIP marijuana and alcohol and turned over to the custody of a guardian at the hospital. The subjects’ names were not released due to their age, police said.
