OKEMOS, MI — A Greater Lansing baseball player has never selected higher in the Major League Baseball Draft. That honor goes to Okemos shortstop Caleb Bonemer, who was taken early in the second round, No. 43 overall, by the Chicago White Sox, in the MLB draft on Sunday night.
Bonemer was the second high-school star from Michigan taken Sunday night with Dante Nori from Novi going #27 overall in the flrst round Sunday to the Philadelphia Phillies.
The Okemos shortstop hit over .400 his senior year, earning Michigan Gatorade Player of the Year honors for a second consecutive season.
