PORTAGE (WKZO-AM/FM) — Artists will be vying for prize money and recognition at the fifth-annual Recycled Art in the Park event this Saturday at Celery Flats in Portage.
Each entrant was required to convert discarded or used items into art.
Portage Park Board Chairperson Tim Earl said 14 entries will on display. The event runs from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
“We’ll have music, people can observe the art there and vote in person for the public choice award,” Earl said.
He says the event tends to bring the best out of area artists.
“One of my favorites from a couple years ago the city purchased,” Earl said. “The guy took rebar, tractor gears and lenses from traffic lights to make, basically, sunflowers.”
The pieces will remain on display through May 13. More on the event can be found here.
