STURGIS (WKZO AM/FM) — A three-car crash at South Centreville Road and South Street in Sturgis has resulted in a death and a murder charge against the at-fault driver.
Sturgis police say it began with a head-on collision just after 5 p.m. Thursday.
Miguel Medina, 46, and his nine-year-old daughter, Kaylie were taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. He subsequently died from his injuries.
The child is recovering.
Records show the man accused of causing the crash, 36-year-old Paul Middling, is a parole absconder with a history of violent crime. He has been charged with open murder, driving while intoxicated on alcohol and drugs and resisting arrest.
Because of his criminal background, bond was set at $250,000.
