KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The November election is getting most of the headlines, but there will be a vote before then, in less than a month. It will be the primary to determine what candidates will appear on the November ballot for federal, state, county and township races and it’s a big ballot.
On the last page of the ballot will be propositions. The only countywide issue will be to renew Kalamazoo County’s senior millage. It provides over 45 services that help older adults, which is the fastest growing demographic in the county, and one of the largest.
Dale Hein, with a citizens group supporting the millage says it helps seniors with their biggest priority, staying put.
He says it provides the support services needed to keep them in their home.
It would not increase your current bill. The request is for a renewal of a little over 3/10’s of a mill, or about $31 for the average homeowner.
The vote is on August 6th, less than a month away.
