PORTAGE (WKZO AM/FM) — The City of Portage has apparently given up any attempts to keep State Farm and its 600 jobs in town, and are now offering to assist in the transition.
In a joint statement, the Mayor and City Manager thank the insurance carrier for their contribution to the community and say their departure will be felt deeply.
They are offering to collaborate with the firm to facilitate a successful transition.
A company spokesperson says the facility they are using in Portage across from the airport is rented and it will be up to the owner to decide what goes into the structure next.
