KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM/FM) — A Kalamazoo man charged with offering to buy items on the internet then robbing the sellers has been formally charged.
Prosecutors say 22-year-old Javonte McFerrin made three deals on Facebook with people selling video games. Deputies claim he robbed two of them at gunpoint in the parking lot near his apartment and implied he had a gun in the third robbery.
McFerrin claimed during the video arraignment that he didn’t have a gun. Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s deputies learned he lived nearby, arrested him and recovered the video games.
He is charged with the three armed robbery counts and two outstanding warrants. He was ordered held without bond.
