KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – With the heat continuing the rest of the week in west Michigan, veterinarians are urging people to keep their pets safe during the hot weather.
BlueHeart Pet Hospital in Grand Rapids is among the facilities that say they have had an increase in calls about the heat and what to do for their pets.
Veterinarian Christine Swanson says people need to keep in mind that dogs can overheat very easily as they don’t sweat like people do and need to pant to get rid of heat.
She says pets can get very lethargic and can vomit if they get too hot.
