BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – In order to address traffic concerns that has been raised by residents, Battle Creek Police will place extra officers on traffic patrol between June 23 and 29 in the city and Bedford Township, where they provide police services.
The city says it’s an effort to bring traffic offenses to people’s attention and change behaviors in an effort to reduce accidents.
During the extra patrols, up to 10 extra police officers will be specifically focused on speeding, aggressive driving, distracted driving and vehicles without license plates.
These officers will be out in the city in addition to the city’s typical group of patrol officers.
Drivers also should remember that both city and state laws require that you only use cell phones hands-free while driving. This includes while you are sitting at a red traffic signal.

Motorcycles are CONSTANTLY driving over 55-60 mph from the stretch of the intersection of Jackson St to West Michigan Ave. I have almost have gotten hit in my vehicle several times trying to pull out of the pkg lot. PLEASE enforce the speed limit
