ALBION, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – Two persons were killed Wednesday night when a vehicle that authorities say was traveling at a high rate of speed during a pursuit involving the Albion Department of Public Safety crashed into a tree.
The department says one of their officers tried to stop a vehicle driving recklessly on Superior Street near Walnut Street at about 8:00 p.m..
According to a post on the department’s Facebook page, the vehicle immediately fled at a high rate of speed south on Superior. Seconds later, the vehicle left the road and hit a tree near the south city limits.
The names of the fatal victims have not been released. The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
ADPS was assisted by fire departments from Albion Township and Sheridan Township, Albion Community Ambulance and the Michigan State Police.
