KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Kalamazoo Public Schools board is losing another trustee.
Board vice president Jermaine Jackson announced last night that he will be leaving the board, with just six months left to go on his term.
He had a couple of requests for the board, the first that they appoint a replacement that looks like him, and that the board consider installing metal detectors at the high schools.
Other board members and superintendent Darrin Slade said he would be missed.
Voters will pick his permanent replacement in November.
Jackson did not disclose why he is resigning.
It will be the fourth time in the last two years the board has had to fill a vacancy.
