KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — It’s a dynasty. The K-Central Mock Trial team has won 19 Michigan State Championships and been in more national Championships than any other High School team in the nation.
Kalamazoo Central’s Trial team finished second this year in the Nationals and was honored Thursday night by Kalamazoo School Trustees.
They are coached by a group of local lawyers. The competition requires that they be able to think on their feet and be able to apply the law and trial procedure to topical, challenging and even fanciful scenarios with a limited amount of preparation.
The competition may not exactly be filling stadiums, but there are a lot more jobs for lawyers than for professional football players, and some of them pay almost as well.
