BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – An overheated portable patient/visitor temperature reading machine is being listed as the cause of a late Wednesday night fire at Pinnacle Care of Battle Creek on Wagner Drive.
The Battle Creek Fire Department says the damage was estimated at $7,000 and was contained to a front office. There was no evacuation of the nursing home.
The fire was reported at 11:23 p.m.. Fire officials say there was light smoke in the hallway from a small fire in an office when firefighters arrived.
The fire was extinguished by the fire suppression system. The structure was then ventilated. No injuries were reported.
The facility was on a monitored fire watch program due to the fire alarm system being out of service, and staff reported the fire. Officials say the Fire Inspector will investigate.
