KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM/FM) — The Michigan Department of Transportation says the long-awaited M-43 repave in Kalamazoo will begin Tuesday morning.
MDOT spokesperson Nick Schirripa says work on the $2.3 million project will occur in segments, extending east from U.S. 131 into downtown. Work will require lane reductions on portions of the major surface street, he said.
He also claims construction won’t significantly impact traffic.
“We’ll have little pinch-points and congestion, maybe two or three minutes added on to your commute,” Schirripa said. “If you’re cycling, you’ll be able to get right through it.”
City utility work delayed the start of the project. Schirripa says the department is still expecting November completion.
