KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM/FM) — Southwest Michigan’s annual PalletPalooza contest is underway.
The event, which is sponsored by Goodwill Industries, requires entrants to re-purpose wooden pallets into art, furniture and other interesting things.
“We’ve had individuals create chicken coops, we’ve had people create bars,” marketing intern Jamauri Bogan said. “People have gone above and beyond, and they’ve shocked us.”
The public selects first and second-place winners in each category.
“People will be able to go around town, look at the creations we have and vote on them,” Bogan said.
A celebrity panel will announce a grand prize winner August 12. Submissions are due June 30.
Winners will share $2,000 in cash prizes. Goodwill, if needed, can supply pallets, Bogun said.
