KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — She claims it was an attempted murder/suicide, but detectives say it was cold blooded murder.
Yesterday a Kalamazoo Judge heard arguments and testimony that Janel Boer wasn’t a victim, but a calculating murderess who shot her husband in the head last Valentine’s Day and then shot herself in a clumsy attempt to cover her tracks.
The 43-year-old woman initially told police that their troubled marriage exploded into violence when they got into an argument, and he shot her and she blacked out. When she woke up, she found her husband, Gregory, dead from a gunshot wound to the head and called police.
Investigators say that from the beginning, none of the physical evidence supported her story, and rather pointed at her as the killer.
Judge Vince Westra ordered that the hearing resume on June 9th to determine if the prosecution has enough evidence to take the case to trial.
The defense intends to challege the prosecution’s analysis of the evidence at that hearing.
