GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A Battle Creek doctor will spend the next five years in federal prison after pleading guilty in April 2023 to making a false statement related to health care matters.
Daniel Castro will also have to pay $1.9 million in restitution.
Castro performed unnecessary sinus surgeries and U.S. Attorney Mark Totten says he “brazenly trampled the core promise of the Hippocratic Oath – to act in the best interest of his patients – and did so for his own financial gain.”
He was indicted in February 2022 and did the surgeries while a doctor at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital.
