KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Sometimes the best ways are the old ways.
Western Michigan University learned that lesson first hand last year, when they invited a company that clears underbrush by using goats to do some pruning in the wooded area between main campus and the Valley dorms last summer.
It worked so well that they have invited the crew they had working last year back, and theywill add a second goat work crew to clear off about 15 acres of campus this summer.
They eat their way through the underbrush, leaving only fertilizer behind. No hydrocarbon emissions, but there may be some methane involved.
