KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The city of Kalamazoo has been one of the governmental agencies sending help to Portage, following the EF-2 tornado that struck a week ago.
Public Works director Jim Baker says they have had city staff helping clear debris and helping in other ways.
He says it’s all part of an emergency action arrangement they have with a number of communities.
He says the city has received help from other area cities during flooding events and other crises and will in the future if they happen again.
The Portage City Council meets tonight for the first time since the disaster.
