KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM/FM) — Kalamazoo’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer communities held Pride Fest on Friday and Saturday and marched on Sunday, joining many throughout the country.
This year, those celebrations and the march in Kalamazoo took on a more-serious tone because participants fear the Trump administration is bent on reversing the progress they have made.
Jay Maddock, director of OutFront Kalamazoo, said it’s also important they mark the one-year anniversary of the massacre at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando.
Rep. John Hoadley, D-Kalamazoo, spoke at the pre-march rally, saying LBGTQ community members must continue to get their stories out to the public.
There were huge marches in Los Angeles and Washington and smaller events in communities all over the country.
