LANSING, MI — Add another major freeway ramp closure in the Frandor area of Lansing beginning Wednesday morning during the drivetime commute.
State highway officials say the exit ramp from eastbound Interstate 496 to northbound U.S. 127 and Homer Street will be closed from 7:00 a.m. Wednesday to 5:00 p.m. Saturday. The closure means drivers won’t be able to get to Homer and Kalamazoo streets. And in addition, there will be no access to northbound U.S. 127, MDOT says in a release.
The exit ramp is not actually being torn apart. Instead, it’s being closed as a safety precaution while crews demolish another structure at the interchange. The work is all part of ongoing $205 million rebuild of U.S. 127.
Drivers are advised to find an alternate route while the ramp is closed.
