THREE RIVERS (WKZO-AM/FM) — A man is being held in the St. Joseph County Jail on $500,000 bond after investigators say he slashed another man’s neck at a home on South Constantine Street in Three Rivers.
It happened at a Father’s Day barbecue that extended into the next morning. Rodney Monroe, 28, of Kalamazoo, got into an argument with Derick Coley, 34. The fight was reportedly over Monroe’s cousin.
Monroe slashed Coley’s neck from behind with a knife when Coley tried to walk away, investigators said.
Coley suffered a 13-inch gash. He was briefly hospitalized.
Monroe has been charged with attempted murder.
