KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A suspect in the shooting death of a 25-year-old Kalamazoo man has now been charged with murder.
19-year-old Khymarus Pratt was arraigned Monday on charges of open murder and felony firearm in the death of Bader Mohamed Farwana.
Just after 11:30 p.m. March 23, 2024, Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers responded to the 900 block of Jackson Street on the report of a traffic crash. When officers arrived, they discovered that Farwana was actually suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
KDPS says life saving efforts were attempted, but Farwana ultimately died of his wounds.
Police have not given any motive for the shooting. So far a GoFundMe page for the family has raised over $12,000 to pay for funeral expenses, with any excess money to be given to his one-year-old daughter.
