HASTINGS (WKZO-AM/FM) — Barry County Sheriff’s deputies have tracked down and charged the suspected hit-and-run driver accused of striking and killing a 40-year-old woman on a bicycle over the weekend.
Kelleigh Hobbs of Middleville has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing death, a 15-year felony, and possession of marijuana. She is being held on a $250,000 bond.
The victim, Carla Reiffer, also of Middleville, was a nurse, a women’s health practitioner and a triathlete.
Reiffer was riding down Whitneyville Road on Friday when she was struck.
Detectives found Hobbs by tracking the Chrysler Concorde she was allegedly driving at the time.
