KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — The Republican leadership in the U.S. Senate has counted heads and decided that they won’t be putting their version of healthcare reform up for a vote this week after all.
Neither Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell nor Senate Democrats are ready to say the legislation is dead, however.
Still, a rally to oppose the Republican rewrite will be held Wednesday evening in downtown Kalamazoo.
“The Republican political leadership remains committed to their dismantling of the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) and the issue is still very relevant. Our speakers will have valuable things to say and an alternative vision to help our community forward,” Organizer Alan Webb said.
The rally in Bronson Park will be followed by a march. It begins at 5 p.m.
