KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The city of Kalamazoo has just launched an extended effort to draft their “Imagine Kalamazoo 2035” Strategic Plan, as the 2025 plan is in its final stretch.
Assistant City Manager Rebekah Kik says it’s the city’s overall guide for the direction the city will pursue for the next decade.
She says they plan to accept comments by mail, online and by phone and to hold dozens of community forums, meets and greets, surveys, focus groups and other events to get all the public input they can, in every way they can.
She says they will be working on the IK35 plan for the rest of this year and all of next year, before a final proposed draft will be ready for the commission.
It’s not just an opportunity to shape where the city is headed, but it may be the best chance for residents to make sure it doesn’t head in the wrong direction too.
