Former Michigan State House Speaker, wife charged on multiple counts

LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Former Michigan House Speaker Lee Chatfield is being charged with 13 counts of embezzlement, conspiracy, and larceny and faces decades in prison.

Attorney General Dana Nessel says his wife, Stephanie, is also charged with embezzlement and conspiracy. She says Chatfield embezzled public and private money to fund his lavish lifestyle including a Florida family vacation and a trip to the Bahamas.

Nessel says he organized the Peninsula Fund in 2017 and it was a political slush fund
