PORTAGE (WKZO-AM/FM) — Just a little more than a week after Portage proudly opened its South Westnedge Dog Park, it has been chained and padlocked until it can be made safe.
The park is built over an old landfill. Apparently, shards of glass have worked their way up to the surface over time.
At least one dog suffered a cut paw.
The city plans to add another two inches of top soil and reseed the park, a process that is expected to take about two months and cost about $5,000.
Until then, the park is closed.
