KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM/FM) — Guides at state parks throughout Michigan say they’re celebrating mammals this week.
Mike Latus, an explorer guide at Warren Dunes State Park in Berrien County, says he plans to highlight the diverse squirrel population at the popular southwest Michigan hiking and camping location during Michigan Mammals Week.
“We have so many squirrels, with all of the acorns in our oak trees, but we can focus on any of the mammals of Michigan,” Latus said.
The special programs will run through Sunday.
A list of participating parks can be found here.
