BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM/FM) — A closure date has been set for the JCPenney in Battle Creek.
The Battle Creek Enquirer reports the last day of business for the anchor tenant at the Lakeview Square Mall is July 31.
It will end the retailer’s 91-year relationship with the Cereal City. Battle Creek’s first JCPenney opened in 1925. The store moved into what was, at the time, the newly-constructed mall in 1983.
The troubled retailer announced the closure of its Battle Creek store in March, along with 137 other locations nationwide.
The JCPenney at the Crossroads Mall in Portage will remain open.
