STURGIS (WKZO-AM/FM) — Firefighters think the use of an angle grinder may be to blame for a fire that torched a detached garage in Sturgis early Friday.
A police officer reportedly spotted and smelled smoke in the neighborhood. First responders were dispatched to the 200 block of First Street around 1:30 a.m.
The department says much of the interior was on fire and several items inside the structure suffered damage.
Firefighters remained on scene for over two hours to ensure the fire was out, according to a press release from the city.
