KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A Chinese native is charged with damaging religious property after the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Michigan says he spray painted swastikas on a Jewish synagogue in Kalamazoo.
Jiafeng Chen was charged in federal court yesterday and allegedly did the damage in November on the Chabad House of Kalamazoo.
Chen was arrested in Arizona on an unrelated charge November 27.
Kalamazoo Public Safety officials say he did not appear to have significant ties to the Kalamazoo area.
