PORTAGE (WKZO-AM/FM) — A quick response to an accidental apartment fire at the Davis Creek Apartments in Portage has limited damage to just one apartment at the 12-unit structure.
Trucks were dispatched to the structure off Meredith Street after 10:00 p.m. Sunday. The first crews on the scene spotted smoke coming from the front and rear of the burning unit.
They were able to knock down the flames in 30 minutes, and contain the damage to the apartment of origin. The other tenants were able to move back in after the fire was put out.
One of the tenants was evaluated by Life EMS for smoke inhalation, but refused any additional treatment.
The damage estimate is about $35,000.
