KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM/FM) — A Kalamazoo man who was caught with an unregistered pig will find out tonight if he will get to keep it.
The Kalamazoo City Commission will be asked tonight to approve a special pig permit that is required by the City’s code of ordinances in order to keep the porcine pet on private property.
Neighbors filed a complaint about the pig, not because it was causing hygiene issues, but because they were concerned that with junk and trash in the yard it might be unhealthy for Bacon, that’s the pig’s name.
A city inspection at Josh Garcia’s house on Morgan Street found no such problems. They learned that the pig is housebroken and not a problem.
Garcia says he is a part of the family.
Commissioners are expected to green-light the permit.
