KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Wednesday, WWMT reported that Kalamazoo County has canceled its Veterans Day event due to COVID-19 concerns.
According to WWMT, the move came after increased cases of COVID-19 in the area.
“We value and appreciate everyone’s participation and support of our annual event and we look forward to holding the Veterans Day Ceremony in 2021,” event organizers said in a written statement.
Had the event taken place, it would have happened at Robert L. Cook Veterans Memorial Plaza at Rose Park on November 11.
In a related matter, officials say the Kalamazoo County Veteran of the Year has been selected, and will be announced on or before November 11.
