KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM/FM) — Businesses in downtown Kalamazoo will be vying for the title of the city’s best salsa-maker on Saturday.
It’s part of the third-annual Kalamazoo Salsa Cook-Off, which is the formal kick-off to Summer Restaurant Week.
“We have 20-plus participants this year,” Brandy Gulley with Millennium Restaurant Group said on Friday. “New for this year is a walkability map — when you get downtown, come to Consumers Credit Union on Kalamazoo Mall and pick up your map.”
Gulley said the free event starts at 11 a.m.
“It’s such a friendly competition between the restaurants downtown,” Gulley said. “They really love it.”
Best salsa ballots will be printed on the map. Votes can also be cast by texting 33791.
