PENNFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – An animal welfare complaint in Calhoun County over the weekend led to the discovery of a large illegal marijuana grow operation.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were dispatched to the 300 block of Cooper Street in Pennfield Township on Saturday where they found the remains of four deceased goats on the back side of the property.
A search warrant was drafted for the property to see if there were any other animals.
During the execution of the search warrant on Sunday, the marijuana grow operation was located in one of the buildings on the property.
Over 140 plants along with other equipment were seized from the property.
No word yet if any arrests have been made.
