KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — The deadline for filing for city races in Kalamazoo and Portage has come and gone and we now know who will appear on the fall ballot.
Mayor Bobby Hopewell is running unopposed. Two others announced their intention to run but never filed.
Incumbent Commissioners Jack Urban and Erin Knott are running for reelection but Matt Milzarek is not.
Eric Cunningham, Charley Coss and Leona Carter will challenge them this fall.
Portage Council members Nasim Ansari and Patricia Randall are running for mayor, to replace Pete Strazdas who is bowing out for health reasons.
There are three council openings, but there could be a fourth if Randall wins the top job.
Incumbent Council Members Terry Urban and Claudette Reid are running for reelection. They will be challenged by Chris Burns, Tim Earl, Lori Knapp, Jim Stephanak, Phil Stinchcomb and Wayne Stoffer.
