PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – For the first time in months the Portage City Council was not confronted by a group of advocates demanding a city resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza this week.
There was one as Dominic Parsons said that it is the city’s business if U.S. aid is paying for the weapons used by Israel.
But there was also one citizen supporting the council’s decision not to act.
Robert Williams says the protesters have been told that isn’t the job of the City Council.
Over the weekend Vice President Kamala Harris escalated calls for a cease fire and humanitarian aid in Gaza.
Council Member Vic Ledbetter thinks that may be why the protest has subsided.
Whether the protesters return or not may depend on events in that tortured area of the world.
